Jack Smith is a Travel and Editorial Photojournalist

I’m a photographer and writer based in Cape Town, South Africa. My work focuses on people, places, and the quiet tension between the two. I’m drawn to rural life, edge-of-the-map locations, and moments that sit just outside the frame most people are looking for.

I shoot simply, favouring minimal gear and a deliberate approach. Most of what you see here was made with just one or two lenses, usually on foot and over time.

My writing and photography have been published in international journals, submitted to global competitions, and licensed for editorial and commercial use. I also create limited-run print series and photographic essays for collectors and publications.

This site is a growing record of the stories I’ve followed across landscapes, cultures, and internal states. If you’d like to collaborate, license an image, or feature a story, feel free to get in touch.
